Emerging from Darkness

Things have been busy, active and exciting at Spokane 34!  Even during the “dark” period.  So many new brethren, such a dynamic team!  I thought it appropriate to post the WM’s announcement that Spokane 34 will be back to “business as usual” this Tuesday.  Please make it out if you can!!

Hail Brethren –

Greetings from the East…

It was a great evening this last Tuesday as Br. Hakan Kaya was Raised to the Sublime Degree. Welcome and congratulations to the newest Master Mason of Spokane #34! My appreciation goes out to the Brothers who were able to be there and participate in the work. Special thanks go out to Br. Milo and Br. RD for coordinating the evening’s meal and also to Br. Tim, who conferred yet another excellent Third Degree. Way to go, Brothers of Spokane #34!

Although this summer has been filled with ritual practice (aka degree conferrals), September means it is time for us to emerge from darkness and attend to the business of the Lodge.

Therefore, it is my pleasure to announce that Spokane Lodge #34 will hold its September Stated Communication this next Tuesday, September 15th.  Lodge will open on the First Degree at 7:30pm. All Masons are invited and encouraged to attend!

Additionally, per a discussion at the Picnic recently, I invite you to bring your Lady to the Temple this evening, so they might get a sense of what it is we do when we meet as Masons, as well as have a chance to meet and get to know one another. After the meeting has closed, we shall all enjoy refreshment. Please let me know if your Lady will be attending. Consider bringing a dessert to share!

I look forward to seeing you at Lodge. We have much to attend to!

Fraternally,

WB Chris Eddy

Update from the East

Greetings From the East!

I certainly hope you have been making the most of this remarkable spring weather! The Grand Architect has been pulling out all the stops for us this year…

Brothers, have we got a great meeting heading your way this next Tuesday. We are to be graced by the presence of the Grand Potentate of the Shrine, our very own WB Kurt Kimberling, and I hear he’s got a whole Divan full of Shriners coming along with him.

There’s lots to talk about during the business meeting as well. Spokane #34 has been busy. We’ll get things started at 6:30pm in the High Twelve Room with a reception for our honored guests. There will be lots of things to munch on and drink, and fellowship will abound!

Lodge will open on the appropriate degree at 7:30pm. All Masons are invited and encouraged to attend. It’s going to be a great evening!

Fraternally,

WB Chris Eddy

March Communication from the East

Greetings Brethren – March certainly has come in like a lion this year…I’m sure we’ll find spring all the sweeter when it comes! Kudos to the select few who were able to make it out for the passing of our newest Fellow Craft Mason, Jeremy Thomas. Everyone pitched in and I thought the evening went quite well. Our next meeting is this coming Tuesday, March 17th, 2009. During this Stated Communication we will receive our very own VWB Winfield Cline as District Deputy during his official visit to our lodge. To commemorate, and also because its been a while, dinner will be served prior to the meeting. Its going to be a fun evening! Dinner will start at 6:30p in the High Twelve room. Lodge will open at 7:30p in the Blue Room on the appropriate degree. In addition to the District Deputy’s visit, many upcoming social events will be discussed and decisions made at this month’s meeting, and we will also ballot on two petitions. There’s a lot happening down at the lodge these days. Come be a part of it. See you the evening of March 17th – and don’t forget to wear a little green! Fraternally, WB Chris Eddy

Greetings from the East!

all_seeing_eyeHail Brethren – Greetings from the East! I hope you are all well. A hearty and heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the Installation last week, the turnout was greater than I expected and I think it went well. Good job, everyone! This is just a reminder that our first stated meeting of 2009 will take place tomorrow evening (January 20th) at the usual time and place (7:30pm in the Blue Lodge). Allow extra time for slippery roads and, of course, finding a parking space. We will open on the appropriate degree, all Masons are welcome and encouraged to attend! Please contact me on my cell should you have something to place on the meeting agenda. Hard copies of the agenda will be available at Lodge. I look forward to seeing you there! Fraternally,WB Chris

Open Installation Tuesday @ 7:00 PM

Sorry about the late communication here regarding our Installation ceremony!  For those who have not received the email, here’s what was communication by our soon to be WB Chris Eddy:

Greetings Brethren -

Happy New Year! I hope this message from the West finds you well.

Meetings, meetings, Spokane #34 has meetings!

There was some discussion and tentative planning at our last Stated Communication regarding a Third Degree on Tuesday, January 6th. After taking stock of the local road conditions and the imposing amounts of snow both downtown near the Temple and in the forecast for Monday, WM Joseph and I have agreed that it would be best to postpone this work until later in the month. The hassles and risks involved with getting and being downtown Tuesday evening just don’t seem prudent.

Therefore, our next gathering will be for Installation on January 13th, 2009. Lodge will open at 7:00pm with the Installation Ceremony to begin shortly thereafter. This is an open ceremony, so please bring your friends and family. Attire is coat and tie/somewhat dressy. Following the ceremony I thought it would be nice to have a coffee/warm beverage and dessert potluck, so please think of something to bring and share, whether its a beverage (coffee, hot cocoa, hot cider, tea…) or a dessert.

Please let me know if you are planning on attending Installation, how many you’ll have with you, and what you are planning to bring for afterwards.

The following week on Tuesday, January 20th, Spokane #34 will hold its first Stated Communication of 2009. Lodge will open at 7:30pm. I urge everyone to attend this meeting as there will be much to share and discuss.

Questions? Info? Please call me at 435-8112.

I hope to see you on the 13th!

Fraternally,
Bro. Chris Eddy, SW

I Am a Freemason Video

Here’s a very homey video explaining what Freemasonry is.  While I’ve never heard of anything about donating blood where I attend, I’m pretty certain we do not dominate the world!

Enjoy!

Freemasonry and the Fabric of America

A few days ago I ran across this inspiring lecture on Freemasonry by Lee Sherman Dreyfus, 33°.  It is a solid explanation of  the Masonic fraternity.

Meeting next Tuesday, December 16th

Greetings Brethren -

In lieu of Lodge this evening, an email, one which I hope finds you all well.

I wanted to be sure everyone was aware of our next meeting, December’s Stated Communication, which will take place on December 16, 2008. Lodge will open on the appropriate degree at 7:30pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

There are at least three great reasons for you to come to this month’s meeting:
1. It will be WM Joseph’s final appearance in the East (well, as sitting Master, at least!)
2. Many important business issues will be discussed and attended to as the Lodge moves forward into 2009
3. Fellowship is even better during the Holidays!

The other item of interest is the attached document, which is a contact list for the Lodge sorted by first name. Please email me with any corrections, or if you have any information (especially email) for a Brother not on the list. Thanks!

Again, I heartily encourage you to attend this month’s meeting on December 16th. See you there!

With Cheerful Fraternity -
Chris Eddy, SW
